RUSAL introduces AI into the global monitoring system for aluminum production
RUSAL, one of the world's largest aluminum producers, is beginning to integrate artificial intelligence into its automatic electrolysis monitoring system (ELTM). The ELTM collects data on the operation of electrolyzers at all of the company's aluminum smelters and automatically reports changes in parameters that could lead to accidents. The neural network will prompt technologists about the causes of violations and provide recommendations for elimination.
Artificial intelligence will be part of the automatic Electrolysis Technology Monitoring (ELTM) system developed by RUSAL's Engineering and Technology Center and implemented at all of the company's aluminium smelters.
“One of the most important functions of ELTM is that the system sends information to subscribed users on a daily basis for a selected group of electrolyzers about deviations in process parameters. These deviations, if further developed, can lead to process disturbances and even accidents. The neural network will prioritize this information in terms of importance and urgency, as well as issue recommendations on how to eliminate deviations,” said Victor Mann, RUSAL's Technical Director.
