Non-Ferrous Metals have Always Been the Main Ammunition of the Shooting Ammunition Depot.

Up to the 40s of the XIX century the first round and then oblong lead bullets were used. In 1848 Minye, French Captain suggested to put a copper cap on the bed of the lead bullet that swelled the oblong bullet under the influence of the powder gasses firmly pressing it against the groove of the barrel which ensured rotation of the bullet increasing its precision and range. In the middle of the XIX century tin shells and copper percussion caps with fulminate of mercury were used whereas in the end of the XIX century cupronickel shells were used. During the First World War lead cores were used to make the bullet heavier enabling it to breach the armour. During the Second World War due to production of a huge ammount of shooting ammunition — 17 billion of live cartridges produced in the USSR in 1941—1945 — bimetalls (steel-brass) and even just steel were often used.
