RUSAL noted the impact of aluminum structures on the construction industry
Innovative materials, including aluminum structures, are becoming a key factor in the development of Russia's construction industry. This was stated by Evgeny Vasiliev, Director of Market Development at RUSALl, at the XVII Infrastructure Summit “Strong Russia” (InfraSpace).
He recalled that in recent years, domestic enterprises that are members of the Aluminum Association have expanded their product range and mastered new alloys. This has contributed to an increase in the use of aluminum in various industries. Thus, since 2014, domestic aluminum consumption in Russia has almost doubled.
According to him, the use of aluminum in the construction of residential and commercial real estate, urban, road and park infrastructure allows solving many problems due to the long life cycle of the material, savings on logistics and installation, low cost of ownership of objects and aesthetic appeal. He named fast-erecting buildings and modular construction as a promising application of aluminum. Due to the lightness and strength of the material, objects can be erected in any climatic conditions, reducing transportation and installation costs.
According to him, over the past seven years Russia under the auspices of the Aluminum Association has moved from pilot projects to full-scale implementation of bridge structures in 19 regions of the country. More than 28 objects have already been built
“The products of aluminum enterprises in Russia are not just in demand in the market, but also have a high export potential. Already today a number of domestic enterprises supply products made in Russia to foreign countries. Continuation of the course on import substitution and support of domestic producers will make it possible to increase domestic aluminum consumption in the country by 2 times in the coming years,” added Evgeny Vasiliev.
