Prices for metallurgical raw materials fell to their lowest levels since the beginning of the year

Forecast prices for ferrous scrap decreased this week to 23 thousand rubles per tonne, which was the minimum since the beginning of the year. Steelmakers are reducing purchase prices after a short-term increase in scrap prices since April, when some producers were replenishing stocks. Scrap prices may continue to decline until the end of the month and remain at their lowest levels during the summer, which will contribute to lower scrap collection.

Since 12 May, the majority of metallurgical enterprises announced a decrease in purchase prices for ferrous scrap by 1 thousand rubles. Thus, the forecast cost of this metallurgical raw material decreased to RUB 23 thousand per tonne in the Central Federal District (on CPT terms, including transportation tariff). This is the minimum value since the beginning of 2025.
