Time of no change. Russian and world flat steel market: April 23-28
At the end of April there were no significant events on the global or Russian steel market. The situation was determined by the previous trends, which consisted of weak demand for flat products, low level of business activity and relatively stable prices. Russian steel mills, in particular, announced an increase in quotations for May, but in June they will probably have to give up the continuation of growth.
Visible consumption of all categories of flat products is noticeably lagging behind last year's consumption. Even without wishing it, metallurgical and distribution companies are gradually accumulating stocks. The volumes of purchases on the primary market are insignificant. Producers still count on export, but the financial attractiveness of such operations leaves much to be desired. Moreover, even after the May holidays it is difficult to hope for positive changes.
The Russian flat steel market is still characterized by metal trading companies as the most sluggish. Visible demand may be slightly worse or slightly better, but in general it remains low. Moreover, with a tendency to further weakening. And as long as the Central Bank continues its tight monetary policy, this trend will continue.
It will be possible to discuss issues of international cooperation with the leading Russian steel companies at the international industrial exhibitions 'SteelStructures '2025' Specialized Exhibition (03-05 June 2025 Moscow, Timiryazev Centre) and the 31st International Industrial Exhibition 'Metal-Expo'2025', which will be held on November 11-14 in St. Petersburg (Expoforum).
