Freight One increases haulage of aluminum by 22.5%

In 2010, Freight One shipped 735 thousand tons of aluminum from these plants to ports in the Northwestern, Far Eastern and Black and Azov sea regions.

The increase in shipments was in large part thanks to Freight One’s use of fixed-route train shipments of aluminum from those plants. These fixed routes allow the shipment of 64-65 Freight One train cars to their destination per trip. Shipments are made twice as fast using this method compared with car-load shipments. Freight One sends up to 7-8 organized fixed-route train aluminum shipments to consumers per month.

There has been a significant increase in regional shipments of nepheline ore (it is processed into alumina, which is a required component in the production of aluminum).

In 2010, shipment volumes of nepheline ore from the Kia-Shaltyrsk mine (Kemerovo Region) to Achinsk Aluminium Refinery (Krasnoyarsk Territory) in Freight One railcars increased by 53.6% compared to last year. In 2010, Freight One shipped 2.45 million tons of nepheline ore along that route.
