OMZ-Spetsstal will manufacture hydro turbine shaft for Zhigulevskaya power plant

OMZ-Spetsstal, a part of OMZ Group, will manufacture a hydro turbine workpiece shaft for the Zhigulevskaya power plant, ordered by OAO Power Machines.

Manufactured from a 190 ton slab in cooperation with OAO Izhorskiye Zavody, the workpiece shaft will be 6 m long and 1.5 m in diameter. It will be delivered in June or July 2011.

This order is a result of many years of successful cooperation between the OMZ Group companies and OAO Power Machines. In 2010 OMZ-Spetsstal has delivered two hydro turbine workpiece shafts for Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant; two more are currently being manufactured and will be shipped in the end of 2011.

Currently Zhigulevskaya power plant is undergoing large-scale reconstruction and technical rearmament. In 2012-2016 the station equipment will be upgraded and all hydro turbines replaced; by 2018 the power plant will turn into a modern, reliable and safe facility.
