Russian ferrous metal exports to Turkey reached a five-month high

In April 2025, Russian ferrous metal shipments to Turkey showed significant growth, increasing 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. According to the Turkish Statistical Service, exports totaled $253.6 million, the highest since December 2024. Month-on-month growth in shipments reached 23.4%, emphasizing the steady demand for Russian steel products.

In the first four months of this year, the total volume of ferrous metal exports from Russia to Turkey exceeded 922 million dollars, which is a quarter more than the results of the same period in 2024. The bulk of shipments were semi-finished iron and steel products worth about 106 million dollars, pig iron in primary forms (74.5 million dollars), as well as ferrous waste and scrap (19.4 million dollars). A significant share was taken by ferroalloys ($6.3 million) and various types of flat rolled products ($44.9 million).

By the end of April, Russia secured its status as the largest supplier of iron and steel to Turkey, ahead of the Netherlands ($137.6 million), the United States ($136.6 million), Germany ($99.8 million) and the United Kingdom ($96.8 million). The steady growth in export shipments testifies to the preservation of strong trade and economic ties between the countries and the high quality of Russian steel products on the international market.
